Midlands Foodie Events – August 2011

August appears to be a quiet month in terms of specialty food fairs in and around the Midlands –  must be the holiday season!!

So it’s the perfect time to get out and about and support your local food stores and farmers market and here are our favourites:

Brown and Green have tastings on every weekend in both of their Trentham and Derby stores and you can find out the details on their newly designed website. Highlights for August include:

  • Kids food is Fun Day on 16th August at Trentham with local producers and lots of fun for under 12’s. Activities include gingerbread decorating and a teddy bears picnic. Booking is required due to popularity.
  • Local Food Celebration at Trentham – Friday 19th to Monday 29th with daily tastings and food quiz and recipe competition.
  • Staffordshire Cheese Co tastings at Derby store on 26th August.

Stone Farmers Market – Saturday 6th August

24 Carrots Farmers Market – Saturday 20th August

Moseley Farmers Market – Saturday 27th August

Saturday August 27th – Food Fair at Leicester Cathedral 10am – 4pm with lots of stalls and some cookery demonstrations. See info here
